

They all enjoy traveling and she still looks forward to her volunteer work in Guatemala each year. When not working, Ann enjoys hiking, bicycling, cooking and spending time with her partner and two pups. She enjoys working with women through all stages of their lives and looks forward to forming a long-term health partnership with her patients. After practicing for five years in Indiana, she could no longer ignore the call of Alaska and joined Alaska Women’s Health in December of 2021. Since that trip, she has never been able to shake her love for Alaska. In 2007, Ann took her first trip to Alaska to visit her brother who was teaching out on the tundra. After living away from home to pursue her career for so many years, Ann returned to the Midwest and began practicing Obstetrics and Gynecology in Indiana. After earning her medical degree and achieving her goal to become fluent in Spanish, she completed her Ob/Gyn residency at Richmond University Medical Center in Staten Island, New York. She was so passionate about this work that she decided to attend medical school in Mexico at the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara. Her early humanitarian experiences developed her fascination with obstetrics and gynecology and the Spanish language. During that time, she also worked as an emergency medical technician and began volunteering on medical relief teams in Guatemala. She attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign earning her undergraduate degree in Biology and went on to work in research for a few years. She enjoys indoor cycling, yoga, fitness training, running and skiing. She serves as the Anchorage Clinical Clerkship Director for OBGYN for the University of Washington School of Medicine, where she teaches medical students. Her special interests include obstetrics, minimally invasive surgery, sexual health and family planning. After completing her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire, she was delighted to join her mentors in practice at Alaska Women’s Health. During her medical school training, she worked closely with the physicians at Alaska Women’s Health, who inspired her to become an OBGYN. Before she started medical school, she worked in fine dining and in maternal-child health epidemiology for the State of Alaska.Īmanda earned her medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine. She was the first in her family to attend college, attending both the University of Hawaii at Manoa and the University of Washington, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in molecular and cell biology.
